Nobuchi (野縁) – the ceiling framework over which ceiling boards or sheetrock is installed. Nobuchi is typically built using “innisan”, which is 30 by 40 mm framework, and is spaced at one shaku (303 mm) intervals. Nobuchi should be supported from above at no less than 3 shaku intervals in both directions.
