Kōzōkabe

Kōzōkabe (構造壁) – also known as tairyokukabe (耐力壁), kōzōkabe is a structural shear wall, as opposed to one that isn’t structural (Majikiri) and only used for partition or privacy-related purposes. Kōzōkabe is distinct from Majikiri in that the former often incorporate plywood diaphragms as well as placement directly under and over load-bearing beams so as to act as a conduit for load-transfer to the ground.
