Heimenzu (平面図) – n – a floor plan drawn to a predetermined scale, such as 1/50. Heimenzu, in strict architectural terms, is the top-view of the floor area of a house from 1 meter above the top surface of the floor. The heimenzu, in contrast with other blueprints such as an elevation, contains the bulk of the information concerning the interior construction of a house.
There is typically a heimenzu for each floor of a given structure. Heimenzu can also vary significantly in legend and complexity; some will only have the room division layout, while others will contain everything from electrical to plumbing to interior. Interpreting more complex zumen (diagrams) requires a certain degree of knowledge and/or prior experience.
