Hafu (破風) – n – the fascia header attached horizontally to the ends of roofing joists or rafters coming down the slope of the roof over which an additional decorative piece is sometimes fastened. Hafu is also called hana-kakushi (鼻隠し), which literally means “nose-concealer” referring to the ends of the roofing joists.
