Chiri


Chiri (散り) – the distance of the edge of a door/window frame for example, to its adjacent wall surface. The chiri makes up the amount by which a decorative frame or moulding protrudes outside the wall plane, and this amount typically is between 10 and 20 millimeters for contemporary interior styles. See circled section in image below.
